Pro tip: don't fall for those fancy bamboo composting gadgets

I dropped $150 on one of those countertop electric composters that claims to turn food scraps into soil in 3 hours. After 6 months of use, I realized it was just drying and grinding the waste, not actually composting it. The "soil" it made had zero microbial life and just sat there when I mixed it into my garden beds. Save your money and just get a regular worm bin or a simple pile outside like my neighbor runs for free.

Whoa, never thought about the microbes part! That explains why my "compost" was basically stale croutons.
