Rant: My electric bill was $12 lower this month after unplugging my game console

I tracked it for 3 months and that phantom load really adds up, which made me rethink all the other 'always on' stuff in my house. Anyone else have a simple change that cut their energy use more than they expected?

Wait, really? I mean, that's awesome if it worked for you, but idk, I've tried that stuff before and never saw a difference on my bill. Maybe it's just me but I feel like the power companies round up to the nearest twenty bucks anyway. I unplugged a whole entertainment center for a month once and my bill was basically the same.

Notice how this follows the same pattern as those people who track their water bill after fixing a single leaky faucet. Most of us just accept the small constant drain until something forces us to look at the bigger picture. The real savings usually come from changing a whole set of small habits, not just one appliance.
