Shoutout to the old weatherstrip on my 1998 Civic

I was driving through Scarborough last Tuesday and the seal around my driver side door finally gave out. Cold air just poured in. Wind noise got so bad I couldn't hear the radio. Had to pull over at a Canadian Tire. Found a roll of foam weatherstrip for 12 bucks. Stuck it on right there in the parking lot. It cut the draft by maybe 60 percent. Makes me wonder how much energy we all throw away from stuff like this. Anyone else just patch things up instead of replacing?

I mean, is a little draft really that serious? You pulled over in a parking lot for some wind noise? I get that it was cold but my 2000 Corolla has had a gap in the driver door seal for like three years and I just turn the heat up. I honestly think you did more work than you needed to for a 60 percent fix that probably won't even last through the next rain.

Your 2000 Corolla might have different window trim, the newer models have a plastic guide that actually snaps into place.
