That week last July when we hit 5 days over 100 degrees in Portland
I work the line in a restaurant in Portland, and last July we had a string of 5 days where it hit over 100 degrees. Our restaurant has no AC, just those big floor fans that blow hot air around. By day 3, we had to close because the hood vents just couldn't keep up with the heat coming off the grills. I ended up sitting outside with my coworkers eating ice chips just to cool down enough to walk home. Has anyone else seen heat waves shut down their local businesses like that?

Those 100 degree days last July shut down the hardware store I work at for two afternoons.
