The difference between my old gas mower and a simple push reel mower is night and day

I finally got fed up with the noise, smell, and hassle of my old gas mower this spring. I bought a basic, old-fashioned push reel mower for about $120. The first cut took a bit more effort, sure, but the quiet was amazing. I'm not burning fuel just to cut grass, and I'm not breathing in fumes. My yard in Cincinnati is small, so it's totally doable. The grass seems healthier too, cut cleanly instead of torn. It's one small change, but it feels like a real action, not just talk. Has anyone else made a switch like this with their yard care that actually felt good?

Nice, you've basically turned lawn care into a silent cardio session.

My push mower burns 300 calories an hour.

Yeah, did you know you can actually burn more calories mowing than walking on a treadmill? I read that somewhere and it stuck with me because it sounds too good to be true. My neighbor has one of those big riding mowers and I always feel a little smug pushing mine around the yard. Last summer I tried to time myself and see how fast I could finish, turned it into a little race against the clock. Ended up sweating through my shirt but the lawn looked great, so it's a win-win.
