Thinking about how my street in Austin looks totally different now
Three years ago, my block was just concrete and a few sad looking trees. Last month, the city finished planting 50 native oaks along the curb as part of a heat island project. I was out there last week helping my neighbor water the new sapling in front of his house, and the whole vibe is just cooler and greener. Anyone else notice a big change in their own neighborhood from local planting projects?

Nice! We got some new trees on my route last year and the shade already makes a huge difference.

Oh man, that shade really changes everything! I walk my dog past a few new ones on our block and it's easily five degrees cooler under them. Best city investment they could make honestly.

Read somewhere that those new trees can drop the air temp by like ten degrees. Makes me wish my city would do more of that.
