Tried those reusable beeswax wraps and they got moldy in 2 weeks
Honestly, I thought I was being eco-friendly when I bought a set of 3 for $18 at the farmers market in Austin. But after wrapping some cheese and half an avocado, I opened the fridge and saw black spots all over them. I washed them with cold water like the seller said, but I guess they weren't drying fast enough. Has anyone else had this problem with beeswax wraps or did I just get a bad batch?

Right, because what the world really needed was an eco-friendly way to grow mold faster than a science fair project. Sounds like you got the premium "mold starter kit" instead of food wraps. Maybe the $18 was actually a donation to the mold gods? Cold water washing apparently isn't the secret handshake these things need. Guess you have to time your avocado consumption with a sun-drying ceremony every day. At this rate, just use the leftover avocado pit as a new pet.

Lmao @gray_schmidt8 you nailed it with the "mold starter kit" thing. My friend Sarah bought a set from some Etsy seller and wrapped her sandwich in one, forgot about it for like 4 days, and when she pulled it out there was this gross fuzzy green pattern on the wax that looked like a map of Texas. She tried scrubbing it off with a tiny bit of dish soap and warm water and the wax just peeled right off the fabric. Now she uses them as weird smelling trash can liners.
