Vent: the compost guy in Portland told me my bin was the worst he'd seen in 5 years
I signed up for a weekly compost pickup here in Portland back in March and figured I was doing fine, tossing in coffee grounds and veggie scraps. Last Tuesday the guy hopped off the truck, lifted my lid, and just stared for a second before saying mine was the worst bin he'd seen in 5 years. Turns out all the pizza boxes I threw in were coated in grease and plastic film, which basically ruins the whole batch. I spent that evening reading the city's guide and now I keep a little list taped inside the lid so I don't mess it up again. Curious if anyone else got called out by their hauler, and what actually fixed it for you?
