Appreciation post: finish quality jumped after I started using a test bar

I've been running the same lathe for about 4 years at Miller's Shop in Dayton. Last month I finally took the time to chuck a test bar and check my tailstock alignment. The difference in surface finish on my last 40 parts is night and day. Has anyone else seen a big improvement just from doing a proper alignment check?
