Heard a guy in the shop say he never checks tool offsets after a crash, and that stuck with me
Was grabbing a coffee at the shop in Gary last Tuesday and overheard a machinist say he just re-homes the machine after a crash and runs the next part. No offset check, no indicator, nothing. Two days later his setup scrapped a $400 block because the turret got knocked 0.015 out of alignment. I always touch off every tool after a bump now, even if the machine looks fine. How do you all handle tool checks after a crash on your floor?
