Just realized I been running my tool offsets wrong for 15 years
I was setting tool heights off the part surface instead of the machine table for basically my whole career. A kid fresh out of trade school pointed it out last week when my Z was off by .003 on a repeat job. Anybody else pick up bad habits early and just roll with em?

Oh man, I feel this one deep in my soul. It's wild how we just settle into a rhythm and never question it until someone with fresh eyes shows up. I've definitely had my share of those "why didn't I think of that" moments in my own line of work, and it stings a little but also saves you in the long run. Good on that kid for speaking up, seriously. We all need someone to call out the little stuff every now and then, no shame in it.
