PSA: stop ignoring your coolant concentration

I keep seeing new guys just topping off coolant with water when the tank gets low. Took me 3 crashed parts and a call to the tool rep to realize my coolant was basically water at 2% concentration. Check your refractometer once a week at minimum.

That cheap stuff is fine if you actually check it. The problem is guys get lazy and think water is close enough. You can wreck a lot of tooling real fast that way. Run it dry once and that cost wipes out any savings from cheap coolant. Just gotta stay on top of it.

Did your tool rep give you any flak about it? I had a guy try to sell me on some fancy coolant once, but I just stuck with the cheap stuff and check it every other week now.
