Question about bringing shop precision to a DIY bookshelf build

I'm torn between spending hours on perfect CNC-style joins or just slapping it together, so which way do you lean?

Honestly that perfect joint is the whole point for me, otherwise I'd just buy one.

Oh man, do I ever get that feeling! Built a coffee table last fall and spent a whole weekend trying to cut the perfect dovetails by hand. My back was killing me and I had sawdust in my hair for days. It looks great, but honestly, a simple pocket hole screw build would have been done in an afternoon and looked just fine from the couch. Sometimes you just have to ask if the extra pain is worth it for something that's gonna get coffee cup rings on it anyway.

Man, that struggle is so real. Gets me every single time I start a project. You spend all this time planning the perfect joints, then halfway through you're just staring at the pile of wood like, why am I doing this to myself? But then if you rush it, you'll hate looking at the tiny gaps forever. Does it really need to be heirloom quality, or just hold some books?
