Spent $180 on a fancy edge finder and it made things worse
Bought one of those 3D Taster edge finders thinking it would speed up my setups on the Haas mill. Turns out the thing gave me false readings because the ball end was sloppy in the holder. Has anyone else had bad luck with those or should I just go back to a standard wiggle finder?

$180 wasted on a tool that's actually less accurate is brutal. I'd be tempted to throw mine in the chip tray if I got a 0.010 error right out of the box. A standard wiggle finder for twenty bucks never let me down like that.

Did yours come with any slop in the ball end out of the box? I had the exact same problem with mine. It was rattling around in the holder and giving me readings that were off by like 0.010 on a good day. I totally feel your pain on that $180, that's a lot for a tool that just makes things worse. I gave up on mine and went back to a standard wiggle finder, works every time and costs way less.
