Vent: my spindle drive blew a cap on a Friday run and I had 40 parts left
Had a 2007 Haas VF-2 running a batch of 6061 brackets for a customer in Dayton, and right at part 60 the spindle just stopped mid-cut with a pop and a burnt smell. Pulled the drive board and one of the big caps had leaked all over, so I called the customer, ate the shipping delay, and overnighted a rebuilt drive for $1,850. Got it back up Tuesday, but I lost the whole weekend and the customer still wanted the price held. Anyone keep a spare drive on the shelf, or is that just me being paranoid?
