Wasted 4 hours chasing a .002 offset that was actually a loose screw on my indicator holder

I spent all morning re-leveling my Mazak table and making test cuts before I noticed the indicator arm was wiggling, has anyone else gone down a rabbit hole fixing the wrong thing?

Wasted a whole shift tightening bolts that were already tight.

Wait, didn't you used to think double-checking everything was just being thorough? Tbh I was in that camp too until I spent a whole shift retorquing bolts on a job that was already done right.
