Question about learning Python versus JavaScript first

Last month, my friend in Austin said I should start with Python because it's easier to read. But three years ago, a teacher told me to learn JavaScript first since it runs in the browser. I tried both for a week each, and Python made more sense for my first few small programs. Which one do you think is better for a true beginner?

Why ask when you already know?

Sometimes asking is how you learn what you really know. It opens up a conversation instead of just stating facts. That back and forth is where new ideas actually come from.

Doesn't that kinda depend on what you're asking about though? Like, sometimes asking a question you already know the answer to is just a way to see if the other person actually gets it, or to help them talk through their own thinking. I've done that at work when training new cashiers, asking them something simple just to hear them explain it in their own words. It's not about getting the information, it's about checking their understanding and building their confidence.
