Blew up my French press in a tiny Manhattan kitchen
Was rushing to make coffee before work and put too much grounds in, then pushed the plunger down way too hard - glass shattered everywhere. Had to clean up tiny shards from the floor and counter for 20 minutes while my roommate watched. Anyone else ever break their press from being in a hurry?

okay but hear me out - the real danger isn't the mess, it's the tiny glass bits you miss that end up in your coffee the next morning. i found a piece in my lip once and swore off french presses forever. switched to a ceramic pour-over and never looked back.

Oh man, @harperwright you just unlocked a new fear I didn't know I needed to have. I mean, I've had my share of coffee mishaps but glass in the mouth is a whole other level. I once dropped a mug on the floor and thought I cleaned it up, but then I sat down and my sock found the one shard I missed. Not fun. So yeah, I'm with you - french presses are a no-go now. I guess I'll stick to my old chipped camp mug and just hope for the best.
