Finally ditched my Mr. Coffee machine for a $30 pour-over cone
I used to just let the auto-drip sit for an hour and drink scorched mud, but since I switched to a plastic Melitta cone last month I actually taste the difference between beans now, has anyone else been converted by a cheap setup?

Oh man, you're right that the cheap pour-over is a game changer... but I gotta say something about that scorched mud thing. Leaving coffee on the hot plate for an hour doesn't just make it taste burnt, it actually changes the chemical makeup of the brew and makes it way more acidic. So it's not just your taste buds going crazy, there's real science behind why it gets gross. The Melitta cone is a solid start but wait till you try a cheap gooseneck kettle, that's what really dials in the pour without making a mess everywhere.
