Finally got my morning pour-over time under 4 minutes

A year back, my routine was a mess, taking almost 8 minutes from boiling water to first sip. I'd rush the bloom and pour way too fast. After watching a video from a shop in Seattle, I started using a timer. Now I bloom for exactly 45 seconds and pour in slow circles. The coffee tastes way brighter and I'm not late for work anymore. Anyone have tips for keeping the water at the right temp during the whole pour?

That video from Seattle sounds like it really helped. Keeping the water hot is a real pain. I read a tip about preheating your carafe or mug with some hot water from the kettle first, then dumping it out before you brew. It acts like a little insulator for your brew vessel. A gooseneck kettle with a good lid helps too, just keeping it covered between pours.

My old kettle lost heat so fast. That preheat trick actually works, I was wrong. My coffee stays hot way longer now.

Watched my friend fight with her old kettle for months, she'd pour coffee and it went cold in like ten minutes. I finally sent her that same tip from @adamellis about preheating, and she tried it with her favorite ceramic mug. She said it was a total game changer, her tea actually stayed warm long enough to finish it. Kind of wild how such a simple trick makes that much difference.
