I finally tried a metal filter versus my usual paper one for my pour-over

For six months I used the same paper filters with my V60, but last week I bought a metal mesh one on a friend's advice. The paper gave a clean cup, but the metal let more oils through and the coffee tasted richer, almost like a French press. I'm torn because I miss the clarity of the paper filter. Which type do you all prefer for your daily brew and why?

Wait, you used the same paper filter for six months? Like, reusing it over and over? I didn't even know that was possible, I thought they fell apart after one use. That's wild.

Seriously, I rinsed mine for a year before it finally gave out!

Yeah the "fell apart after one use" thing is what got me too. I read a whole article about how some paper filters are way sturdier than people think. The key is rinsing them really gently with cold water and letting them dry fully between uses. It can mess with the taste if you don't dry it right though. My friend does this and his coffee started tasting like cardboard after a few weeks.
