My old French press finally gave out after 7 years of daily use

It happened last Tuesday morning. I was doing my usual routine, boiling water, grinding beans, and when I went to push the plunger down, the mesh filter just snapped in half. Coffee grounds everywhere all over my counter. I tried to save it with a paper towel but that was a mess. Ended up driving to Target at 7am to grab a new one because I couldn't go without coffee. The new one is fine but it doesn't feel the same yet, you know? Has anyone else had a favorite coffee tool just break on them and had to adjust?

Five years is the max for a French press filter usually.
