Pro tip: skip the expensive single origin subscription I tried for a year
I spent about $400 on a fancy coffee club that sent a new single origin bag every month, but half the bags tasted flat or weirdly acidic. It felt like a gamble each time, and I ended up giving away more coffee than I actually enjoyed. Has anyone found a subscription that's actually worth the cash?

That's a lot of money for bad coffee.

Did you try using those fancy beans in a different brewing method? I ran into the same problem @taylor82, and switching to a pour-over instead of my usual drip made a huge difference with some of the pricier bags. Sometimes the beans just need a slower extraction to bring out what they're supposed to taste like.

Was it just the taste or did you also feel like you were paying for the story behind the beans instead of the actual coffee? I had a similar thing happen where the descriptions made every bag sound amazing, but the brewing never lived up to the hype. It starts to feel less like enjoying coffee and more like funding someone's travel blog. What did you end up doing with the bags you didn't like?
