Stopped eyeballing my coffee grounds after a barista in Austin asked me one simple thing
I used to just scoop grounds into my drip machine without thinking. Whatever looked right, you know? Then about 4 months ago I was at this small shop in Austin and the barista asked me how many grams I was using at home. I had no clue. She pulled out a scale and showed me I was probably using like 8 grams for a 12 cup pot when I should've been using closer to 60. That's a huge gap. I went home and weighed my normal scoop and it was way off from what I thought. My coffee had been weak and bitter for years and I just blamed the beans. Now I weigh everything and it's wild how much better it tastes. Has anyone else had a moment where a simple question made you realize you were doing it all wrong?
