Switched from a French press to a pour over setup after my friend in Seattle insisted I try it.

I always thought my morning routine was fine (you know, just boiling water and waiting), but she mailed me a ceramic dripper and some filters to prove a point. The coffee tastes way cleaner now, and I'm actually noticing different flavors in the beans. Has anyone else made a switch like that and been totally surprised?

Wait, she MAILED you the whole setup? That's some next level coffee friendship right there. I'd be shocked if my friend sent me a spoon. The taste difference is real though, you can't go back.

My buddy sent me a bag of beans from Portland once. I still think about it.

Aw man, I hate to be that person but I gotta say something real quick. It's actually not just the taste, it's the whole experience like the ritual of grinding the beans and pouring the water just right. Once you get used to that morning routine with a proper setup, going back to a drip machine feels like drinking sad brown water. I still keep a backup French press for when my fancy stuff breaks down though, gotta have that safety net.
