Tbh, my best coffee week ever was when my old machine broke in a snowstorm.
My basic drip maker gave out during that big freeze in Spokane last February, so I had to dig out a French press I hadn't used since college. Honestly, I forgot how much more flavor you get from just letting the grounds steep for 4 minutes, and it made the whole quiet, snowed-in morning feel special. Has anyone else had a broken appliance accidentally bring back a better way of making coffee?

Totally! My fancy espresso machine died last year and I went back to a simple pour over. It's slower, but the coffee tastes way better now.

Yeah, I switched to a French press and it's a total game changer.

Three hundred dollars for a bean grinder that broke in 18 months. I swear these fancy machines are designed to fail just so you buy a new one. Now I just buy pre-ground beans from the grocery store and use a $15 Mr. Coffee. Sure the snobs would probably faint, but at least my coffee tastes consistent and I don't have to take out a loan for repair parts.
