Threw $80 down the drain on a fancy coffee grinder

Bought a cheap electric burr grinder off Amazon. Worked fine for two weeks then the burrs wobbled. Grounds were all different sizes. Anyone else had luck with hand grinders instead?

Wait, did you accidentally buy a "burr grinder" from the same company that makes those little toy cars that fall apart? I feel your pain so hard. I tried a cheap electric one once and the thing sounded like a lawnmower with a rock stuck in it after a week. My buddy talked me into a hand grinder and I was so skeptical at first. Now I'm that guy who gets a tiny arm workout every morning just so my coffee doesn't taste like a mix of dust and disappointment. Yeah, you gotta crank it for like a minute, but at least the grounds come out even and the grinder doesn't quit on you after two weeks.

That hand grinder thing is exactly what my uncle said when I complained about my electric one turning into a smoke machine. He read some article about how the cheap motors burn out fast because they run too hot. Read somewhere that the real issue is the plastic gears strip out, not the burrs themselves. So you end up with a useless brick that just spins without crushing anything. A minute of cranking beats replacing a $40 gadget every few months, I guess. Plus you get to feel like you earned that first sip.
