Went to that new roaster in Portland and their 'light roast' was basically charcoal
I asked the barista about it and she said 'that's just how we do our profile here, it's for true coffee people.' Has anyone else had a place just completely miss the mark on a basic roast level?

Sounds like they mixed up 'light roast' with 'campfire fuel' tbh.

Man that sucks, I've been burned by places pulling that "it's for real coffee lovers" line too. It's like they think burning beans makes them edgy or something.
