A prof at Ohio State handed me a flyer for a speech I disagreed with and asked me to go anyway
Two years ago I was a sophomore at Ohio State and a speaker came to campus who I really did not agree with at all. I was standing outside the union handing out flyers for a student group when a poli sci prof walked up and gave me one for the event. I kind of laughed and said no thanks, and he just said "the whole point is that you get to hear it and still walk out the same person." I went, hated most of it, and stayed for the Q&A where a student asked him a question that made him back off one of his own claims. That moment did more for how I think about campus talks than any article I read. Has anyone else had a prof push them to show up somewhere they knew they'd disagree?
