Dropped $200 on a Milo Yiannopoulos ticket that got cancelled an hour before doors

I was pumped to see him speak at Ohio State back in 2017. Bought a general admission ticket for $75 plus fees, drove two hours from Cleveland, and parked for $20. Then an email popped up saying the university cancelled the event due to 'security concerns'. No refund either because the ticket site said it was a 'force majeure' situation. I lost $95 total and got nothing but a gas receipt. Has anyone else gotten stiffed on tickets after a college backed out?

Totally sucks when the school bails and leaves you holding the bag like that. Sounds like a classic case of the university covering their own hide while everyone else gets burned.

The university had every right to cancel that event though. They were looking at potential riots, property damage, and student safety issues. Remember what happened at Berkeley that same year? $600,000 in damage and people got hurt. I get being frustrated about the money, but $95 isn't that bad compared to what could have happened. The school was probably worried about the liability if things got out of hand. Those ticket sites are the real problem with their force majeure clauses, not the university trying to keep people safe.
