Hot take: We're letting small groups silence campus voices

I saw a student group cancel a speaker just because ten people signed a petition. This happens all the time now. It means we only hear safe opinions, not real debate. Free speech is getting weaker on campus. We need to push back against this trend. Let's invite more speakers, even if they challenge us. Otherwise, college loses its point.

Host your own event through official channels to avoid petition blocks.

Tried that route once, and the waiting list was a year long. Now we just use the library's meeting rooms.

But that's exactly why I agree with grant.jason. The official route is slow, but it's the only way to get real change.
