Pro tip: When campus officials try to stop a speaker over content

My student org scheduled a lecturer known for criticizing tech regulations. Now the college says the event might 'upset' certain groups and is reviewing approval. This feels like silencing, not safety. How have you fought for similar events to go on? What worked for your campus?

At my college, we faced this with a speaker on free speech. We got the campus legal clinic involved, and their advice helped us push back effectively.

Our campus legal clinic was a lifesaver last year too!

Getting the legal clinic involved is smart, but it's often a slow process. We had better luck going straight to student media and framing it as an admin overreach story. Public pressure from the school paper and local news got the approval pushed through in days, not weeks. Sometimes making a public fuss works faster than official channels.
