Recording campus talks changed my view on speaker protests.

Protesters often drown out debate, which hurts free speech more.

So you mean recording actually showed what the protesters were doing? That's crazy... I always assumed the speakers just got shouted down and that was it. But hearing the full talks must change how you see the whole thing. Like, maybe the protesters are stopping real conversation from happening.

Seriously though, what gets me is the timing. They don't just shout. They wait for the exact moment a speaker makes a complex point that needs explaining, then blast noise. It makes the speaker look like they can't answer, when they never got the chance. Saw it happen last week when a guy was breaking down budget numbers, the second he said "the third quarter projection..." horns went off. That's not protest, it's sabotage.

Wait you actually recorded the talks? That's wild, I always figured those just got totally shut down.
