Saw a campus protest over a speaker I actually agreed with the ban on

Went to a small state college in Ohio last month. They had a guy who openly called for violence against a specific ethnic group. The school blocked him. Some students were screaming about censorship. But honestly, sometimes you draw a line. Has anyone else seen a ban that felt necessary instead of political?

You ever actually had to sit through a meeting where they debated that line?

Sounds like a real barn burner of a meeting, @wesley83. Probably went longer than a hundred feet of chain link. At least you got paid by the hour, right?

You ever been at a school where the administration actually did the right thing for once? I dealt with something similar at my university a few years back. They blocked a speaker who had a history of making threats against LGBTQ students, and I felt like it was a safety issue, not a free speech one. Sometimes you have to look at the real world consequences instead of hiding behind principles that don't apply when someone is calling for actual harm.
