The poly professor who got booed for saying both sides have a point

Overheard two students at my local diner in Columbus last Thursday talking about a guest lecturer from the poli-sci department who got heckled for suggesting the campus speaker ban was more complicated than just censorship vs safety. What stuck with me was one kid saying 'we can't even have the argument anymore' and honestly that hit harder than the actual controversy. Has anyone else noticed the middle of these debates just vanishing?

Man every single thing is like this now. I seen it at work meetings too, people just pick a side and dig in, nobody even tries to hear the other person out anymore. It's like the goal is to win, not to actually figure anything out together.
