A dude at a Detroit comic shop said my longboxes were 'a filing crime scene' and honestly he was right
I've been collecting since I was 12 and my whole system was just shoving new issues wherever they fit, which meant my copy of Saga #1 was buried somewhere behind a stack of random 90s X-Men. A guy at a shop on Woodward Ave watched me dig for 10 minutes and finally said 'you file by vibe, huh?' Then he showed me how he does it: alphabetical by title, then numeric inside each box, with a little index card taped to the front of every longbox. I went home and re-sorted about 600 books over two weekends, and I actually found 3 issues I thought I'd lost, including a Ms. Marvel #1 I'd been hunting for a year. Now pulling a run takes me under a minute instead of flipping through everything. Anyone else switch to strict alphabetical, or do you sort by publisher or era instead?
