Cross-country drive showed me the heart of comics fandom

I took a road trip from Chicago to Seattle last spring. In a remote Nebraska town, I stumbled upon a comics store run by an older couple. They had boxes of back issues and talked about fans who travel through regularly. One customer told me he adjusts his route each year to hit small stores like this. He said it's less about buying and more about meeting others who get it. That stop made me realize how spread out but connected comics fans really are. It's a shared passion that turns strangers into friends on the road.

My three-hour stop in that Nebraska shop totally changed my view on this.

I doubted the community, but 'strangers into friends' says it all.

Strangers into friends" really sums it up. I was pretty cynical about online groups before this one. But somehow, this place manages to break through all that noise. It's almost annoying how right you are about the community thing. Nice to have that doubt proven wrong for once.
