I dropped $200 on a full set of graded plastic cases for my collection, and now my cat thinks they're her personal ice rink.

She slides them across the hardwood floor every night, and I'm honestly more impressed than annoyed, but has anyone else's pet developed a weird obsession with their comic stuff?

My dog treats my longboxes like a buffet he's not allowed to eat from, just constantly sniffing them with deep, tragic longing. He's convinced there's a secret sausage stash in the "Amazing Spider-Man" issues from the 80s. The plastic cases must be like a whole new level of temptation for a cat, a smooth, forbidden skating pond. At least she's not trying to chew through them, which is where I'd draw the line.

Imagine the dog's confusion when he finally gets a whiff of that 80s newsprint, just paper and old glue instead of hidden hot dogs. @campbell.evan, my cat does the same skating routine on my trade paperbacks, leaving little slide marks on the dust jackets. She'll park herself on a longbox like it's her personal throne, judging my reading choices. The plastic cases probably feel weird and cool under their paws, which is the whole point for them. It's a good thing they can't read, or they'd know how boring the actual stories inside are to them.

Maybe they just like the smell of our old fingerprints on the plastic.
