Just had an amazingly bad comic shop week
Grabbed a short box from my local shop for $40 and half the books had water damage I didn't catch until I got home. 3 issues I was stoked about are totally ruined. Has anyone else ever gotten burned on a mystery box that looked like a steal?

Man that's rough, feel for you. I grabbed a short box at a con for $30 once and everything smelled like wet basement. Tried airing them out but half were basically wavy cardboard at that point.
A real bummer when you think you scored and it turns out the shop was just trying to dump damaged stock on you. Some sellers really know how to hide that water damage with careful stacking too.
Hope you can at least salvage the covers or something, but yeah mystery boxes are always a gamble.

Ugh, that's the worst when "mystery" just means "we hid the moldy ones in the middle"... better luck next time, maybe you'll get a comic AND a free science experiment.
