My comic got wrecked at a meetup in Cleveland last month

I was at a local comic fan meetup in Cleveland, showing off my favorite issue of The Amazing Spider-Man #300. Someone bumped my elbow and I dropped it right into a puddle of spilled soda. The cover got soaked and stuck to the backing board. I carefully peeled it apart and laid it flat to dry, but the colors still ran a bit. Has anyone else had a comic damaged at an event and managed to fix it?

Oof, that's a real gut punch. I mean, I once sneezed directly onto a mint-condition page during a con, so maybe it's just me but we're our own worst enemies sometimes. At least the soda wasn't yours, that's my only silver lining.

Ugh, try blotting it with a paper towel then pressing it under a heavy book for a day... works sometimes.

Three whole pages of a 1957 copy of On the Road gone from Dr. Pepper, that's rough. I've seen people drop coffee on books at estate sales and just walk away like nothing happened. The blotting and pressing trick might be worth a shot, but honestly pulp fiction or not, paper never really bounces back from liquid damage. Might end up with a crinkly page that smells like a mix of old book and vending machine regret.
