My local shop in Tacoma had a line around the block for a variant cover and I just wanted to grab my pull list.

The owner saw me looking annoyed and pulled me aside, saying 'Hey Amy, your stuff is already bagged and boarded in the back' which saved me from a two hour wait in the rain.

That's the kind of thing that makes a shop worth going back to. Read a piece once about how local comic stores survive by knowing their regulars, not just chasing the big sale days. Sounds like your owner gets it. Saving you from that wait shows they actually pay attention to who comes in every week. Makes a huge difference compared to the places that treat everyone like a stranger. More shops should run their business that way.

Worry this actually shows bad business sense. That owner just lost a big sale by not making that customer wait like everyone else. Special treatment for regulars can drive away new customers who see the line and leave. Stores need to focus on the big sale days to stay open, not just a few loyal people. If everyone got special treatment, the store would lose money and might even close. Sometimes fair treatment means everyone follows the same rules.
