Overheard a dad at the comic shop tell his kid 'it's okay to just like the pictures'

It was a nice reminder that collecting and deep lore aren't the only valid ways to be a fan. Anyone else have a moment that made you rethink what being a fan means?

Gatekeeping ruins hobbies for everyone. That dad had the right idea letting his kid enjoy things at their own level. Just let people like what they like.

Gatekeeping gets too much attention online. Most people in real life just enjoy their hobbies without making a big deal about it. Why do we act like every casual comment is some huge cultural battle?

idk, that dad probably just didn't want to explain Star Wars lore for the hundredth time that day. but honestly, maybe we all need a 'just like the pictures' approach sometimes, especially when someone starts debating the canon of a kids cartoon. saves everyone the headache.
