Serious question, had to choose between a mint Amazing Fantasy #15 reprint or a beat-up original Silver Surfer #4.

Went with the Surfer for $75 because the story by Stan Lee meant more to me than a perfect copy. Anyone else ever pick sentimental value over condition?

Spot on about Kirby and Lee, but that just makes the choice better. You picked a book with real history, a story that actually shaped comics, over a shiny copy of something that just looks old. That beat-up Surfer has more soul than a perfect reprint ever could.

Wait, wasn't Silver Surfer #4 by Kirby and Lee?

Man I feel for you getting mixed up on that one. It's an easy thing to do though with all those old issues floating around. Sucks when you're trying to make a point and the details trip you up.
