Trying to explain the X-Men timeline to my dad took over two hours

He asked a simple question about the movies and I ended up drawing a chart on a napkin in a diner in Cincinnati, trying to cover the original trilogy, the prequels, and the multiverse stuff. It got so messy we had to start over three times. Do you think it's better to just pick one starting point for new fans, or is the confusion part of the fun?

Just start with the original trilogy next time.

The diner part got me curious too haha. I usually just watch the original trilogy first when I introduce someone to Star Wars. My brother insisted on showing his kid the prequels first and now that kid thinks Jar Jar is the best character. Just keep it simple with the originals and you can't go wrong, the rest is just bonus material.
