Working from home made me appreciate our office's graphic novel crowd.
They used to meet in the break room. Now we have virtual discussions, and it's the highlight of my week.

Seeing how virtual book clubs have popped up everywhere reminds me of this shift. My cousin's cooking group moved online and they actually share recipes more now. @shah.lisa has a point about missing physical stuff, but the digital space lets different people in. Like, my neighbor who never leaves her apartment joins our movie chats. It's not about replacing the break room, it's adding another layer. The weird part is how these new habits stick even after things open up.

You're telling me your online chats beat actual people in a room sharing comics? I'd kill to have a break room crowd. You miss the stacks of books and stealing each other's snacks.

Seriously, my buddy's online D&D game saved his sanity during lockdown. He still plays with that same group every week, even though they could meet up now. The digital thing built a real crew he never would have found locally.
