Client ghosted me after I fixed his RAID array for free
Spent 4 hours rebuilding a RAID 5 array for a small business owner last Friday, didn't even charge him because he seemed desperate. He picked up the drive, thanked me, and now won't answer my calls for the follow-up diagnostic I promised. Anybody else have clients vanish after you do them a solid?

Did you get the feeling he was sizing you up the whole time you worked on it? I had a guy do basically the same thing after I saved his accounting database for free, didn't even get a follow up call. People like that just take the help and disappear the second they don't need you anymore.

Man I gotta say I see this a bit differently than @taylor82. In my experience some folks just get overwhelmed or embarrassed after someone helps them out for free, not because they were sizing you up. Could be he's just awkward about the whole thing and doesn't know how to follow up, your mileage may vary.
