DAE still run SSD upgrades on 10 year old laptops or just tell people to buy new
Had a guy bring in a 2014 ThinkPad last week, thing was crawling with the original spinning drive and 4 gigs of RAM. I gave him two options, drop $85 on an SSD and another $30 on RAM to bring it to 8 gigs, or put that money toward a $300 refurb. He picked the upgrade and I had it booting in 12 seconds by the next morning. That was 9 days ago and he already called back saying it feels like a brand new machine. I get why some guys push people straight to new hardware, but this one felt good and he saved over $150. Curious what you all do when someone walks in with something this old, do you quote the upgrade or just point them at a new one?
