and honestly @black.amy you're braver than me because I tried the mayo thing once and my cat wouldn't stop staring at my PC case with this hungry look. the worst part wasn't even the smell it was explaining to IT why there was a mustard stain on my CPU cooler three weeks later. I swear thermal paste companies have this whole operation figured out, they know we'll try anything when we're broke and impatient. now I just keep a $15 tube in my desk drawer like a normal person with zero shame about it.

Lol last time I tried a budget thermal paste hack I used butter because it was all I had in the office fridge. My PC ran fine for like 3 days until the smell started hitting the whole floor. Now I just spend the $15 because it's cheaper than buying a new motherboard and dealing with HR asking why my computer smells like a grilled cheese.
