Pro tip: get a proper thermal paste spreader if you do a lot of board work

I kept using old credit cards and my fingers for years, thinking it was fine. Last week I did a full thermal repaste on a batch of 15 gaming rigs for a local shop. My usual method was slow and messy. I finally spent about $25 on a set of metal spreaders with different edges. It cut my time per machine by at least five minutes and the paste layer is way more even. The cheap tool paid for itself in one afternoon. Has anyone found a specific brand or type that holds up better than others?

Hold up, @taylor.jordan which ones did you snag? I'm curious because I almost pulled the trigger on two of them last month but talked myself out of it. The price tag on those things is no joke, especially if you're grabbing the whole set at once. From what I've seen, some of them hold up better than others over time, so I'm wondering if yours are the newer runs or the older ones. Was there a deal or something that made you go all in, or did you just say forget it and buy the lot?
