Refurbished drives beat new ones in my book after a 5 year run
I know everyone swears by buying new hard drives for client builds, but I have had better luck with manufacturer refurbished drives from a place in Austin. Over 5 years I installed about 300 of them and only 4 failed, which is way better than the 12 failures I saw from new drives in the same period. The key is checking the smart data and burn in testing for 24 hours before trusting them. Anyone else found refurbs to be more reliable than the hype suggests?

Were you checking smart data on the new drives before install too?
